SUMMARY:David Mandel - Stop Blaming Mothers and Ignoring Fathers - Special Full Day Catered Training Event
DESCRIPTION:We bring you this special full day catered training event with David Mandel\, Founder and CEO of the Safe & Together Institute.  \nFor 20 years\, the Safe & Together Model has been helping change the global response to domestic abuse and children across systems. In this one-day training designed for decision-makers\, managers\, and frontline staff\, David Mandel\, the creator of the Model\, delves into the thinking behind it\, focusing on two major themes:   \n\nHow drastically different expectations of mothers and fathers as parents impede effective\, efficient\, ethical\, and safe interventions with families impacted by domestic abuse perpetrators. \n\n\nHow six practice “myths” stand in the way of ethical\, efficient\, effective\, and safe domestic abuse-informed practice and systems change. \n\nDuring this training David will explore how some of the most prevalent professional ideas and theories\, such as the concepts of the child witness to abuse or trauma-informed practice\, can both help and hinder our work with adult and child survivors. He also walks participants through the necessity of addressing differing parenting expectations of men and women as part of any effective response to domestic abuse and children.  \nLearning Outcomes: \nParticipants will leave with concrete strategies for transforming their organisational policies and practices\, as well as tools to assist them in building a strong common language across their agency and community.   \nThis event will benefit both those who are new to the Safe & Together Model and experienced Safe & Together Model practitioners. We strongly encourage attendance from collaborative teams and multiple practitioners from the same agency and/or community. As the material has significant strategic implications\, decision-makers\, policymakers\, and other leaders are strongly encouraged to attend.  \nPlease note: This one-day event is an excellent opportunity to richly develop and enhance participants’ knowledge of the Safe & Together Model but does not replace other Safe & Together Model training\, such as the CORE training.  \nWho is this for?  \nThis event is designed for professionals across diverse sectors who work with families impacted by domestic abuse perpetrators’ behaviours\, including:   \n\nChild protection \n\n\nDomestic abuse advocates \n\n\nLaw enforcement and criminal justice \n\n\nFamily court personnel \n\n\nLegal professionals \n\n\nMental health and substance use practitioners \n\n\nChild and family workers \n\n\nSchool personnel and others \n\nDavid Mandel   \nDavid Mandel is the founder and CEO of the Safe & Together Institute and creator of the Safe & Together™ Model. In a career spanning almost four decades and three continents\, David has counselled men who have been violent to their partners and children; consulted at the highest level of child protection\, family court\, and other sectors; contributed to numerous research studies; and been an invited speaker and trainer across the globe. Through the Institute’s growing network of hundreds of trainers\, David’s Safe & Together Model has improved the practice of thousands of professionals and impacted tens of thousands of children and families.  \nPricing (fully catered): £125 or £100 if you have also purchased a SWA National Conference ticket.  \nFor enquiries\, please contact booking@womensaid.scot
